INGHAM COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND BOARD VICE CHAIRPERSON VICTOR CELENTINO ANNOUNCES HE'LL SEEK RE-ELECTION IN 2010. Thursday, February 11, 2010
Ingham County Commissioner Victor Celentino of Lansing Township announced he is a candidate for reelection to a 6th two-year term from district 1 on the Democratic ticket. He made his announcement during a fundraiser on February 11, 2010 at the University Club in Lansing in front of an enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Commissioner Celentino, who serves on numerous committees (including the Airport authority and Michigan Works Administration board), is also the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners. During his announcement he recognized many accomplishments in 2009, "Ingham County Government continued its tradition of providing high quality of services to its residents. Progress was made in several areas, including providing uninsured residents with access to health care through the Ingham County Health Plan, expanding recreation opportunities, while maintaining balanced budgets without increasing the county’s operating millage." Commissioner Celentino also mentioned the financial challenges when developing the 2010 budget, "Adoption of the 2010 budget was accomplished without an increase in the operating millage and still maintaining vital services." When stating a reason for seeking re-election he said, "I want to continue to provide the citizens of Ingham County with positive, progressive leadership, and as a teacher, to represent the needs of our children in these challenging financial times." Commissioner Celentino is a special education teacher at Dwight Rich Middle School in Lansing; he represents District 1 (Northwest and West Lansing City and Western Lansing Township).
